Afternoon all, please take a few moments and read the following document to get ready for some changes coming this Friday the 29th.Summer Email / Computer ChangesThis document is broken into three sections.
Please First Read Section 1, then to the section that applies to your situation. Section 1: Overall Changes 1. This summer there are some changes on the horizon with our email and network. We are migrating to a new in-house network domain, as well as migrating our email to a new email server. These changes do require a computer tech to come to your machine and make a few changes. The difference well be in the login process to your staff computer.
2. To begin with everyone’s password has been reset to welcome. We recommend that one of the first things you do is to login to webmail and change your password to what you choose (changing it to the same password you used previously is recommended so you can remember it easily). The instructions to login to webmail and change your password are available all the time at our district website, under webmail and Directions. ****One last thing to note: This change will be in place on Friday June 29th. All email will be merged from the old email system into the new system. A side affect to this merge is that merged mail might not deliver correctly if replied to. This means that email in your mailbox that was sent to you from inside the district, if you reply to that email it will be bounced back to you without delivery. This will only happen to email that was sent by someone inside our email system, if this is a message from someone outside our email system it will not be affected. A work around is to forward that message back to the person you want rather than replying, this will work fine. All new mail sent after June 29th will not have this problem.**** Section 2: Working throughout summer on staff machineAs stated in the section 1, when this change takes place on Friday June 29th, your staff computer will no longer be able to contact the email server using outlook unless your machine has been visited by one of our IT staff to migrate your machine into the new network domain. As of the date of this message, only the Bonnyview staff computers have been completely moved and able to use outlook on their machines. So what this means is until your machine has been visited, you must use webmail to interact with the email system. Again the new instructions for logging into our webmail have been posted along with how to change your network / email password on our district webpage under webmail. Again here is a direct link to the .pdf -> Directions. Please follow the directions that are posted, login to the webmail and change your password from welcome to what you desire. After a member of the IT staff visit’s your machine, you will be able to go back to using Microsoft Outlook as your primary email application. **One thing to remember after your machine is migrated; the 8 character limitation is no longer in place for your usernames. Your new username will be your first initial and your entire last name. Also whatever password you changed from welcome in webmail, will now be the same password that you use to login to your staff machine. And as stated in section 1, you will be choosing the RSDNMP domain to login to.** Section 3: Checking email from Home throughout the summer. Many of you will simply be checking your webmail throughout the summer. After the June 29th change please follow the newly rewritten webmail instructions located at our district webpage, or follow this direct link -> Directions. As stated in Section 1, all passwords will be changed to welcome and your first action should be to login to the new webmail and follow the directions to change your password. While you are gone a member of our IT Staff will be visiting your staff computer at work to switch the machine over to the new network domain. When you return to work remember after your machine is migrated; the 8 character limitation is no longer in place for your usernames. Your new username will be your first initial and your entire last name. Also whatever password you changed from welcome in webmail, will now be the same password that you use to login to your staff machine. And as stated in section 1, you will be choosing the RSDNMP domain to login to.
For those of you who are working throughout the summer I apologize for any inconvenience this merging process might cause but we are working diligently to make a smooth transition. If you have any questions or concerns please email me or try reaching me by calling the District Office at 225-0011. Thanks and have a great summer, Seth
